ARTICLE 4. Number
4.1 An Ion Smoke Detector in accordance with CAN / ULC-S531 "Smoke Detector" must be installed in each livable building and in every bedroom of a dwelling and at any other location not being part of the building and where one sleeps occasionally or not.

4.2 A smoke detector must be installed outside a room and within five (5) meters of any door of a room.
For the purposes of this subsection, the distance of five (5) meters is calculated by measuring along the walls.

4.3 In a dwelling with more than one floor, at least one smoke alarm must be installed on each floor except the unheated attic and crawl spaces.

4.4 In a building where rooms are rented, a smoke detector must be installed in each of the rooms offered for rent.

4.5 In secondary spaces and common areas that are not part of dwellings in houses with secondary suites.

4.6 If a corridor gives access to the bedrooms, the smoke detector must be located in the corridor at a location between the bedrooms and the remainder of the floor.

The tenants of a building must maintain the smoke detectors in good working condition, ie replace the batteries when necessary.

The smoke detectors must be replaced ten years after the date of manufacture indicated on the alarm by the manufacturer. They must be replaced if the date of manufacture does not appear on the detector, if they have been painted or if they are defective.

A portable fire extinguisher is good for 6 years. You must buy a new one after that.

ARTICLE 17. EXTINGUISHER

A functional portable extinguisher class 2AIOBC, with a minimum capacity of 5 lbs, suitable for solid fuel fires, flammable liquids and gases, and live electrical equipment fires, must be located and accessible at all times in every building and each suite.

All occupants must be familiar with the evacuation plan and it must be practiced at least once a year. A few safety procedures can also accompany your plan.
