It is now possible to dispose of your glass containers and bottles in a specially designed container! It is located in the parking lot of the IGA grocery store (461 Knowlton Road).

Here is the list of accepted glass types:

  • Wine bottles
  • Condiment jars and Mason-type jars
  • Glass food containers

It is not necessary to remove labels, covers, lids or caps.

These products are NOT accepted:

  • Light Bulbs
  • Drinking Glasses
  • Pyrex type glass
  • Windshields
  • Mirrors
  • Television screens

The Town of Brome Lake works with 2M Resources, where the collected glass is transported. The company, located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, sorts the material received based on quality and colour. The glass is cleaned and crushed according to several granulometric standards. The result of this process can then be used to fabricate:

  • Aggregates used in the manufacture of concrete
  • The manufacture of insulation and filtration products
  • The manufacture of bottles and containers
  • The production of abrasives

Citizens are strongly encouraged to bring their glass in this new container; however, it is ALWAYS possible to drop it in the blue bin.
