Fire and Public Safety

The Fire and Public Safety Service does much more than put out fires!

The Fire and Public Safety Service is responsible for managing the fire department, the first responder service, as well as nautical and civil safety.

In case of fire, dial 911.

Fire and Public Safety Service

The Fire and Public Safety Service responds to emergencies such as fires, accidents, disasters, and rescues. Firefighters do everything in their power to protect citizens' lives and property. The Fire and Public Safety Service also plays a preventive role, assessing the risks present on the territory and identifying the best preventive measures to adopt.

Since the adoption of the Fire Safety Act, the Fire and Public Safety Service has been responsible for complying with a risk-coverage plan designed to reduce the loss of life and property in the event of fire. The plan covers every aspect of the service, from the vehicles to be used and the equipment required, to firefighters' response times.

The team is made up of 32 volunteer firefighters who have undergone a minimum of 365 hours of intensive training in fire, disaster and rescue response. Would you like to join our great team? Contact us at 450-243-6111 or by email

First Responders

The First Responders Service has been in existence since March 2003. It's a vital service offered by the Town of Brome Lake, and has already saved many lives by intervening in emergencies involving people in difficulty. It's a team much appreciated by users and the community alike!

First responders are community volunteers who have received over 60 hours of training, including theory, practice and simulations. Interested in joining this team? Contact us by email.

Nautical Safety

Summer is a very busy time on Brome Lake. It goes without saying that the same level of safety is required on the territory when it comes to boating traffic.

That's why, since the 1980s, the Town has ensured the presence of a nautical patrol on Brome Lake during busy periods. The patrol's role is primarily one of prevention, but they also have a mandate to:

  • enforce speed limits;
  • validate compliance with legal requirements regarding safety equipment aboard watercraft;
  • evaluate the competency of operators of motorized pleasure craft;
  • respond to accidents and disasters on the lake.
