Created by the merger of many municipalities surrounding its banks, Town of Brome Lake will transport you to a different world, just over an hour from Montreal. Brome lake at the heart of the lives of its residents

With an area of 14.53 km2, the Brome lake attracts tourists year round. It is also at the heart of the lives of its residents. A paradise for fishermen, artists, outdoor and sports enthusiasts, it is used for swimming, fishing, sailing, kayaking, rowing or paddleboating (SUP) in summer, running and walking in the trails that border its banks and by biking along its shores. In the winter, ice fishing and the ice skating rink with its heated shelter at Douglass beach are popular with families. You can also enjoy the nature trails that attract a crowd of walkers, cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts.

A favourite spot for photographers and painters, Brome lake is spectacular no matter the time of the year, but especially at sunset, with the backdrop of Mount Brome. The Quilliams-Durrull Wildlife Reserve and its marshes, which are accessed by Tiffany Beach, also house a diverse fauna, including fascinating birds among which the Duck, the emblematic bird that has made the Town so famous.

There are well-established trail networks and new ones under construction, offering magnificent views, scenic drives, walking/cycling paths, four downhill ski centres within 30 minutes (and Jay Peak just a short distance away) , snowshoe trails, cross-country skiing, walking and running, equestrian centers, some of the most beautiful golf courses in Quebec and several major sporting events such as the Tour du Lac Brome. Nature also serves as a backdrop to many artists who draw inspiration to their paintings and writings, as well as health and wellness enthusiasts who come to personal growth retreat and yoga.

A cultural leader in the Eastern Townships, Town of Brome Lake hosts several festivals, gourmet events and cultural events throughout the year, including Canard & gourmandises in September. It is also home to a major cultural venue, the recently renovated “Théâtre Lac-Brome”, which offers a rich and varied programming that places a special emphasis on Francophone and Anglophone artists from here and elsewhere.
