Flushing of the Water Supply System Begins

Water system flushing will begin on Monday, May 5, in the Brome Lake area and will last for approximately two weeks.

Reminder: This annual procedure is intended to ensure good drinking water quality, remove manganese and iron particles, and maintain the water system in good condition.

Important: The water remains safe to drink. We recommend that you turn on your cold water tap and let the water run until it runs clear. Please note that this is not a boil water advisory.

Here is what you can expect:

  • A slight decrease in water pressure
  • a slight reddish discoloration due to rust being dislodged

Work will begin in the Knowlton area on May 5 and last for about a week.

From May 20 to 23, our crews will then move to the Bondville area for about a week.

Check the condition of your water before drinking or doing laundry (avoid doing laundry between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. if possible). If it is reddish, open the cold water tap and let it run for about 15 minutes until it becomes clear.
