Intermunicipal Agreement With the Brome Village Concerning Fire Service

Brome Lake, March 6, 2025 - The Town of Brome Lake is proud to have reached an agreement with the municipality of Brome Village concerning fire safety services, a partnership that has been in effect since the beginning of the year.

A similar agreement has also been reached for first responder services, allowing Brome to benefit from rapid support and comprehensive coverage. Under this agreement, the municipality of Brome Village will also benefit from fire prevention services.

The territory of Brome thus joins that of West Bolton, which already benefits from the coverage of the Fire and Public Safety Service of the Town of Brome Lake. In return for this service, Brome will participate in the sharing of costs, both for the services offered and for the infrastructure necessary for their deployment.

“I am pleased to announce the signing of this agreement with the Brome Village,” said the mayor of Brome Lake, Richard Burcombe. “This collaboration not only allows us to share the costs associated with interventions, but also, for the population of the Brome, to continue to obtain a quality service, with teams that are already well trained and equipped.”

“Brome Village is very happy to be joining the Town of Brome Lake and the municipality of West Bolton for the fire services and first responders,” said William Miller, mayor of the Village of Brome. “As we are neighbouring villages, council and I feel that geographically this is a sound decision. Also, the first responders of the Town of Brome Lake answer to all calls regardless of their nature, which is an important element for the well-being of our residents. Brome Village is looking forward to our new joint venture.”

The Town of Brome Lake recently put into service its new pumper tanker truck, acquired at a cost of $1.5 million, to replace a vehicle dating from 1998.
