Under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services the candidate will be responsible for the treatment and distribution of drinking water and the operation of wastewater pumping stations. He/she will also assist in the planning, organization and execution of installation, maintenance and repair work on water mains, sewers and other equipment in the municipal water and sewer network. The candidate must be on call 24/7 on alternating shifts and be available for alternating weekend shifts.
Responsabilities
Collect drinking water and wastewater samples and perform all other tasks required to comply with applicable standards and regulations (RQEP, ROMEAU, etc.)
On-call 24/7, alternating with other operators, and travelling as required outside normal working hours
Supervise and carry out work required for the proper operation of pumping stations and sewer system
Supervise and carry out work related to the maintenance of stormwater networks and stormwater sumps
Monitor and execute work required for the proper operation of water system components, such as reservoirs, production stations, pipelines, etc
Evaluate, in collaboration with his/her superior, the equipment, materials and manpower required for the work and submit the necessary requisitions to his/her superior for approval
Follow and respect the standards, directives, plans and specifications transmitted to him/her for the execution of the work, and participate, when required, in their preparation
Inspect work on job sites; ensure that it is carried out in accordance with instructions; note of any abnormalities or irregularities observed, report to supervisor and take appropriate corrective action
Supervise and carry out work required for the proper operation and maintenance of hydrants and network valves
Ensure proper use of machinery, tools and materials used for work
Communicate with citizens and contractors and meet with them on site, if necessary
Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards
Perform all other related tasks.
Qualifications
High school diploma;
Valid driver's license;
Qualification in unfiltered underground drinking water treatment and water and sewer system operator (OTUND or equivalent);
Minimum 2 years relevant experience;
Certificate in mechanized wastewater treatment (OW-1) (Asset)
Computer literate;
Basic knowledge of industrial mechanics;
Knowledge of standards and regulations required to perform duties;
Confined space certification (Asset)
Fluency in spoken and written French and English;

Salary from $31.81 to $35.47 per hour
40-hour work week, spread over 4.5 days
