Under the supervision of the camp coordinator, the Head Counselor plays a key role in planning camp activities and operations, while supporting counselors in their daily tasks. He/she ensures the safety, supervision and well-being of the children throughout the summer. This position also includes pre-camp responsibilities to prepare and coordinate teams and activities.
Main Responsibilities
Pre-camp period (March to end of June) - Part-time, flexible schedule:
Help with the hiring of new camp staff with the coordinator.
Prepare the hiring process for new employees, including the creation of interview questionnaires.
Organize and clean day camp equipment in the camp storage room.
Plan and lead the staff training week for new counselors.
Find professionals for specialized workshops.
Plan work schedules for counselors, respecting the 40-hour/week limit.
Plan the summer’s activity schedule in collaboration with the counsellors.
Plan team-building activities.
Plan and organize camp games.
Camp period (late June to mid-August) - Full-time, 40 hours/week :
Approve and supervise counselors' specialized activities (sports, science, arts, etc.) in the field.
Be present in the field to support counselors and supervise campers.
Take attendance every morning (9 a.m.) and ensure smooth management of camper arrivals.
Manage the check-out process at the end of the day (4pm).
Complete mid-summer and end-of-season camp counselor evaluations with the coordinator.
Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively in French and English.
DAFA training and first aid certification (an asset).
Have a good sense of responsibility, be creative and able to work as part of a team.

Employment Conditions
8-week full-time position (35-40 hours/week), Monday to Friday, from late June to mid-August.
Salary: $19.93 per hour
